Color ranges from soft baby pink to vivid magenta-pink with a white streak. Cleavage is absent. Fracture is conchoidal to uneven. Specific gravity is approximately 2.65 to 2.66. Tenacity is brittle. Displays little to no significant fluorescence under standard UV light.

Subtranslucent to semi-transparent with a refractive index of approximately 1.544 to 1.553. Exhibits aggregate birefringence. Doubly refractive as an aggregate, lacking pleochroism due to the cryptocrystalline structure.
