About This Crystal

A large hand-carved tower featuring soothing pastel blue, seafoam green, and earthy brown or white banding. It displays opaque to translucent layers, a waxy to vitreous luster on polished surfaces, and rough natural matrix inclusions running vertically along one side.

Physical Characteristics

Color includes soft blue, white, and tan-brown. Streak is white. Perfect rhombohedral cleavage in three directions (not visible on this carved piece). Conchoidal to uneven fracture. Specific gravity is approximately 2.71. Brittle tenacity. Exhibits strong effervescence in dilute hydrochloric acid.

Optical Properties

Uniaxial negative with high birefringence, producing noticeable double refraction in transparent varieties, though this specimen is largely opaque and banded.
