About This Crystal

Small, rounded, pebble-like tumbled stone with a dark smoky-brown to opaque black appearance, possessing a smooth vitreous to sub-vitreous luster and translucent edges when held to strong light.

Physical Characteristics

Color is deep black to dark brown; streak is white; no cleavage; fracture is distinctly conchoidal; specific gravity is approximately 2.35 to 2.45; tenacity is brittle.

Optical Properties

Isotropic (singly refractive due to amorphous structure); refractive index is around 1.48 to 1.51; exhibits no pleochroism.
