About This Crystal
A small, tumbled, smooth-surfaced pebble showing a pale greenish-white to translucent greyish-green coloration. It has a waxy to vitreous luster with a dense, fine-grained microcrystalline texture.
Physical Characteristics
Pale green to white color with a white streak. It has poor cleavage in two directions at nearly right angles, an uneven to splintery fracture, specific gravity around 3.25 to 3.35, and exceptionally high toughness due to its interlocking microfibrous structure.
Optical Properties
Biaxial positive with a refractive index ranging between 1.654 and 1.667. Displays moderate birefringence and sometimes subtle chatoyancy or fibrous optical effects, but generally translucent to sub-translucent.
