About This Crystal

An opaque, polished oval cabochon displaying vibrant shades of green ranging from deep forest green to lighter spring green. It exhibits distinctive, striking concentric banding and undulating swirling patterns characteristic of botryoidal growth, with a smooth, glossy, vitreous-to-silky luster.

Physical Characteristics

Color: bright green to dark green with light and dark bands. Streak: pale green. Cleavage: perfect in one direction, though rarely observed in polished pieces. Fracture: subconchoidal to uneven. Specific gravity: 3.6 to 4.0. Tenacity: brittle.

Optical Properties

Biaxial (-) with refractive indices around nα = 1.655, nβ = 1.875, nγ = 1.909. Strongly pleochroic in shades of green. It is doubly refractive.
