About This Crystal

A small, raw, doubly terminated or fragment crystal showcasing a vibrant orange-to-rusty-brown coloration due to external or internal hematite and iron oxide staining on milky-to-clear quartz. The luster is vitreous to greasy, and transparency ranges from translucent to opaque at the iron-heavy sections.

Color ranges from white and clear to bright orange and reddish-brown; white streak; no cleavage; conchoidal fracture; specific gravity of approximately 2.65; brittle tenacity; exhibits piezoelectricity and can show weak greenish-yellow fluorescence under shortwave UV due to impurities.
