About This Crystal
Carved into a figurine of a meditating Buddha, the specimen displays a pale creamy white to off-white coloration, a waxy to greasy luster, and an opaque to slightly translucent appearance characteristic of fine nephrite or tremolite jade.
Physical Characteristics
Creamy white color, white streak, compact and interlocking microcrystalline structure rendering it extremely tough with no distinct cleavage, uneven or splintery fracture, specific gravity around 2.90 to 3.03, and generally inert under UV light.
Optical Properties
Biaxial negative optical character with refractive indices around 1.606 to 1.632, low birefringence, and aggregate optical behavior without pleochroism.
Hardness & Durability
Origin Region
China, Myanmar, Russia, Canada, United States
Hardness & Durability
Mohs hardness of 6.0 to 6.5, exceptionally high toughness due to its interlocking fibrous matted crystal structure, highly durable and resistant to breakage.
Care & Maintenance
Clean with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, avoid harsh chemical cleaners and ultrasonic jewelry cleaners, store separately to prevent scratching softer materials.
Rarity & Value
Common to Uncommon depending on purity and translucency, valued based on carving craftsmanship, stone purity, and color uniformity, widely used for decorative carvings and jewelry.
Special Characteristics
Interlocking microcrystalline fibrous structure providing extreme impact resistance, commonly shaped into carvings, cultural figurines, and talismans.
