About This Crystal

A carved and polished hexagonal crystal point pendant made of lilac to pale pinkish-grey lepidolite with distinctive mottled and feathery inclusions throughout its translucent body, featuring a vitreous to pearly luster.

Physical Characteristics

Color ranges from lilac, purple, pinkish-grey to white. Streak is white. Perfect basal cleavage in one direction, yielding flexible elastic flakes if raw. Specific gravity is approximately 2.8 to 2.9. Brittle tenacity in carved forms.

Optical Properties

Biaxial (-) with refractive indices around nα = 1.530 - 1.540, nβ = 1.560 - 1.565, nγ = 1.565 - 1.570. Weak pleochroism in shades of pink and colorless.
