About This Crystal
The specimen is a rough, unpolished chunk of quartz displaying a milky to translucent white body mixed with grayish patches and prominent yellow-to-rusty-orange iron oxide staining along surface cracks and matrix inclusions. It exhibits a vitreous to greasy luster on fractured surfaces and has irregular, blocky contours with visible conchoidal fracture planes.
Physical Characteristics
Color ranges from milky white and gray to vibrant orange and brown due to iron staining. Streak is white for the quartz base. Cleavage is absent (conchoidal fracture). Specific gravity is approximately 2.65. Tenacity is brittle. It exhibits piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties and generally lacks strong fluorescence, though some iron-bearing variations may show weak yellowish or brownish responses under UV light.

Singly refractive (isotropic) properties are absent; quartz is optically uniaxial positive and doubly refractive with a low birefringence of 009. Refractive index ranges from 1.544 to 1.553. It exhibits no pleochroism in pure form, though inclusions may alter local light transmission.
