About This Crystal
Spherical polished specimen with a translucent pink color and vitreous luster, featuring internal cloudiness and subtle fracturing typical of massive quartz.
Physical Characteristics
Pale to medium pink body color, white streak, conchoidal fracture, no cleavage, specific gravity of approximately 2.65, brittle tenacity.
Optical Properties
Uniaxial positive with a refractive index of 1.544 to 1.553 and low birefringence of 0.009, doubly refractive.
Hardness & Durability
Origin Region
Madagascar, Brazil, South Africa, USA
Hardness & Durability
Mohs hardness of 7, fair toughness due to lack of cleavage, stable under normal conditions but sensitive to prolonged UV light exposure which may cause fading.
Care & Maintenance
Clean with warm soapy water and a soft cloth; avoid harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, and prolonged direct sunlight.
Rarity & Value
Common, affordable, value depends on color saturation and clarity; large polished spheres are widely available.
Special Characteristics
Can exhibit asterism (six-rayed star effect) under a point light source when microscopic dumortierite or rutile fibers are present in high density.
Lore & History
Widely known as the stone of unconditional love, associated with the Heart Chakra, traditionally used in ancient civilizations for emotional healing and self-love.
